About

This website has been created by a passionate teenager from Colorado. The inspiration was for a school project, with the objective of trying to spread awareness about teen depression and what you can do if you are experiencing depression. I have learned a huge amount about teen depression and many shocking facts about it. If you are experiencing depression just know that you are not alone in this. Over 20% of teenagers aged 15-21 have experienced depression and only 30% of teenagers experiencing depression actually get treated for it.
The teenage body changes so much and there are so many hormones that can impact the level of depression experienced. The main ways depression impacts teens are: created patterns of negative thinking and insecurities; feeling helpless to life challenges; peer pressure; academic expectations; and much more. Social media is not helping to connect as initially intended, it is actually having a major negative impact. For one, teenagers see so many unrealistic expectations of what they should look like and what they should be doing in their spare time. This can cause teens to feel extremely insecure and have low self-esteem. Therefore, parents and friends need to always remember to talk to people who might be experiencing depression and regularly ask them questions about how they are feeling and what they can do to help.
This was not just a school project, the goal is to help as many teens as I can who might be experiencing depression and to educate others about adolescent mental health.
